Nipah Virus Alert, : Nipah virus more dangerous than covid,– ICMR Director Dr. Rajeev Bahl

New delhi, September 16, Jankranti News,: —- It is known that Nipah Virus is once again booming in the state of Kerala.  The spread of the virus is increasing.  So far six positive cases have come to light.  Out of which two have died, currently 4 cases are active.  Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recently warned that this Nifa virus is more dangerous than Covid-19.

ICMR Director General Dr. Rajiv Bahl said that while the death rate in covid cases is only 2-3 percent, Nifa virus has a death rate of 40-70 percent.  It is said that it is not known why these Nifa cases are increasing in Kerala.  He said that at present they have only enough monoclonal antibody medicine for 10 patients.  It has been revealed that another 20 doses of monoclonal antibody drugs will be purchased from Australia.  He explained that this medicine should be used when the infection is in its initial stage.  Similarly, doctors there have already given monoclonal antibody medicine to 14 patients who were infected with Nifa abroad and they have fully recovered after the treatment, he said.

Meanwhile, the effect of this virus is high in Kozhikode district of the state.  The authorities were alerted by this.  7 villages in the district have been declared as containment zones and steps have been taken to contain the virus.  On the other hand, banks, schools and other offices have been declared as holiday.  The state government has revealed that the Nifa virus that has come to light is the Bangladesh variant.  It can spread from person to person.  Kerala State Health Minister Veena george said that although the spread of the virus is low, the death rate is high.
