ASSAM: Assam to host Khelo India University Games in February 2024.

Jankranti News (Assam) : Assam prepares to host the prestigious fourth edition of the Khelo India University Games from  1st February to 14th February, 2024. The grand sport event is all set to bring together over 200 Universities with more than an estimated 4000 athletes to be participating in 18 different sports. 

The venues that are choosen for the grand sport events are Indira Gandhi Athletics stadium at the Gauhati University, Nabin Chandra Bordoloi AC Indoor Stadium, Dr Zakir Hussain Aquatic Complex, Maulana Md Tayabullah Hockey Stadium, ABITA RGB Sports Complex, LNIPE Tepesia, Chachal Tennis Complex and lastly Bhogeshwari Phukanani Indoor Stadium. 

The Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma expresses immense pride in hosting the grand sport and transforming Guwahati into a sporting hub under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The Khelo India University Games is organized by the Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities, the Indian Olympic Association and the National Sports Federation. 

Khelo India University Games was launched back in 2020 with the aim to identify and train the talented athletic of the 18 to 25 age group to nurture them to play in the Olympics and the Asian Games. 

The Khelo India University Games plays a vital role in promoting sports talent at the University level across the country which will contribute to the overall development of the India’s Sporting Spirit.
