Jankranti News (Assam): The Ambubachi Mela is an annual religious festival held at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam. It is one of the most significant and eagerly awaited event in the region which draws devotees from all corners of the country.

The Ambubachi Mela is deeply rooted in the mythology associated with the Kamakhya Temple. It is believed that during this period Goddess Kamakhya, the presiding deity of the temple undergoes her annual menstrual cycle.

The Ambubachi Mela attracts a large number of devotees, ascetics and spiritual seekers. The pilgrimage holds immense spiritual significance as it is believed that during this time the divine energy of the goddess is at its peak and sincere prayers yield profound spiritual rewards

The Ambubachi Mela for this year 2023 is scheduled to be held at the Kamakhya temple from June 22nd to June 26th. During the festival, the temple will be closed to visitors from June 23rd to June 25th. The auspicious Ambubachi Mahayoga will commence at 2:30 AM on June 22nd and the temple doors will be opened for devotees after the Snan Nitya Pooja on June 26th.
