ASSAM: Pilgrims thronged the Kamakhya Temple; Door’s reopen after three days.

Jankranti News (Assam) : The Kamakhya temple, the epicenter of the Ambubachi Mela, stands majestically atop the Nilachal Hill.

Thousands of pilgrims have come to Kamakhya temple in Guwahati atop Nilachal Hills to celebrate the annual historic Ambubachi Mela which commenced from 22nd June to 26th of June. 
Devotees of both young and old age came a long distance to participate in the festival seeking blessings and spiritual solace. As the vibrant sounds of dhols and mantras resonated through the air, the atmosphere had filled with devotion.
Pilgrims had come in vibrant traditional attire and made their way up the Nilachal Hill, carrying their hopes, prayers and reverence. The fragrance of incense and the melodies of devotional songs filled the air which created an ambience charged with divinity.
On June 22, the temple’s door was closed for three days and three nights after the Pravitti ceremonies.
On 26th June, Monday, a large number of devotees sought blessing from Maa Kamakhya after the main door of the temple reopened after Nivritti ceremonies. 
The Assam Government converted the Pandu port camp into a shelter for the pilgrims with a capacity to host up to 15,000 people. 
The Ambubachi Mela is an annual Hindu fair held in Kamakhya Temple to celebrate the yearly menstruation course of Goddess Kamakhya.
