 Bangalore, February 5, Jankranti News,: —– Cases of monkey fever are frightening in the country.  Most cases of monkey fever have been reported in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.  Health experts said that monkey fever can turn fatal in some cases.  People are panicking especially in Karnataka due to the increasing cases of monkey fever.  Monkey fever is shaking Karnataka.  The state health officials were alerted after two people died of monkey fever in the state of Karnataka.  Meetings are being held on the measures to be taken to deal with the spread of this viral infection.  The first death due to the disease in the state occurred on January 8 in Hosanagar taluka of Shivmogga district.  An 18-year-old girl died of this disease.  The second person who died due to this disease is a 79 year old man from Udupi district.  Officials said that till now there are 49 positive cases in the state.  34 people in Uttara Kannada, 12 in Shivamogga and three in Chikkamagalur are said to be suffering from this disease.

With this monkey fever known as Kyasanur forest disease  (KFD), the central health department has advised everyone to be cautious.  Medical experts say that with monkey fever, symptoms such as sudden rise in fever, severe muscle pain and fatigue are seen.  Medical experts say that when the severity of the disease increases, there are problems such as vomiting and motions.  Health experts say that in severe cases of monkey fever, nosebleeds and bleeding from native gums occur.  Medical experts warn that some people may develop tremors, abnormal gait, mental confusion and new neurological problems.  Doctors suggest to recognize the symptoms early and take proper treatment when suffering from monkey fever.  But there is no specific treatment for KFD (Monkey fever).  Medical experts advise all people living in areas affected by monkey fever to wear full-body clothing to avoid exposure to ticks.

 Monkey fever is mainly transmitted from animals to humans.  Doctors found that it infects humans especially by ticks found in monkeys and biting humans.
