Tezpur, Assam State, April 8, Jankranti News, : President Draupadi Murmu boarded a fighter plane for the first time today.  She was seen wearing an anti-gravity suit before stepping into a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam, a strategic air base.  The President, who is currently on a visit to Assam, is the Supreme Commander of the three security forces.  First she received a military salute from the security forces.

After that they had a short ride in the Sukhoi 30 MKI.  They wore a flying suit for this.  The President’s flight was piloted by Group Captain Naveen Kumar Tiwari.  In 2009, former President and India’s first woman President Pratibha Patil also flew in a frontline Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet from Pune Air Force Base in 2009.  The Sukhoi-30 MKI is a twin-seater multirole fighter jet developed by the Russian company Sukhoi, the Sukhoi-30 MKI was built under license by Indian aerospace giant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

Draupadi Murmu arrived in Assam last Thursday for a three-day visit.  launched the “Gaj Utsav Nu and Mount Kanchanaga Expedition – 2023” at Kaziranga National Park on Friday.
