Indore, Madhya Pradesh, March 31, Jankranti News,: —– The death toll rose to 35 in the Baleshwar temple accident on Sri Rama Navami in Indore yesterday. A large number of devotees attended the Sri Rama Navami celebrations at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple on Thursday, and the roof of the stepwell collapsed as a large number of devotees sat on the slab-built stepwell in the temple. As a result, many devotees fell into the well. Officials revealed that initially 13 devotees died. However, the death toll rose to 35 on Friday morning.
Reacting to the Baleshwar temple accident, the locals said that if the authorities had responded properly to their complaint last year, the accident would not have happened now. In fact, the entire maintenance of Baleshwar temple and another temple being built next to it is being done under the auspices of private trusts. Locals alleged that this trust encroached the children’s park and built these temples. Locals alleged that they first built a water tank and encroached the site and then built a Baleshwar temple after putting a slab on the step well.
Locals said that they had complained about this in April 2022, Municipal Commissioner also issued notices to Baleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple Trust in April 2022 with our complaint, but after that the Municipal Commissioner officials did not take any action. Locals alleged that if the authorities had responded properly and taken action on their complaint, 35 people would not have lost their lives now.
In addition, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced financial assistance of Rs.5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs.50 thousand to the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock over the incident.
