New Delhi, December 21, Jankranti News,: —- Corona Vairus is again ringing the danger bells in the country. A record 614 new corona cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours. This is the first time that such a high number of corona cases have been registered after May 21 this year. With this, the number of active cases in the country has reached 2,311, the Union Health Department said on Wednesday. 21 cases of Covid-19 subtype JN.1 have been reported in three states. 19 cases were reported in Goa, one each in Maharashtra and Kerala. Scientists are researching the reasons behind the spread of this sub-variant virus. Three deaths due to Corona have been reported in Kerala in the last 24 hours.

Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya held a high-level review meeting on Wednesday as the number of Covid-19 cases is increasing in the country. He asked the state governments to be vigilant as Corona has not been completely destroyed and a new variant is coming to light in recent times. He said that the positivity rate has increased especially in the states of Kerala, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Karnataka. He discussed with various states about corona disease preparedness, precautions to be taken, available facilities etc. He said that although there is no need to worry about the cases, vigilance is necessary. He advised the states and UTs to increase vigilance on the cases, to be alert, to keep adequate stock of necessary medicines, to keep oxygen, concentrators, ventilators and vaccines ready. To check the performance of PSA plants and ventilators, it has been ordered to conduct a mock drill on the preparedness of the hospitals every three months at the central and state level. Also, Union Health Minister Dr Mandavia has requested to increase the number of corona virus tests and to share the details of latest cases, corona virus tests and positivity with the Center from time to time.
