 New Delhi, March 16, Jankranti News, : The stage is set for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.  The Election Commission announced the election dates at a media conference held at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.  It has also announced the schedule of assembly elections for four states and one union territory along with the Lok Sabha.  At 3 pm on Saturday, Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar held a press meet and announced the election schedule.  Before announcing the dates, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar revealed some interesting facts.  He said that the attention of the world will be on the elections held in the largest democratic country.  He said that the Election Commission of India is ready to conduct free and fair elections.  He said that the commission team has conducted surveys in all the states and made all the arrangements.  He said that they have met the representatives of all the political parties and taken feedback from them to improve the system.

Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases.  The first phase of election polling will be held on April 19.  The second phase of election polling will be held on April 26, the third phase of election polling on May 7, the fourth phase of election polling on May 13, the fifth phase of election polling on May 20, the sixth phase of election polling on May 25, and the seventh phase of election polling on June 1.  Various assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha elections on June 4.

  In Andhra Pradesh on May 13, in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim on May 19, in Odisha the first phase of assembly elections will be held on May 13 and the second phase of elections on May 20.  The election results will be announced on June 4 in AP.

 While the notification for Andhra Pradesh assembly elections will be released on April 18, nominations will be scrutinized on April 26.  The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is April 29.  Polling will be held on May 13 and counting of votes on June 4.

The Chief Election Commissioner explained that 10.5 lakh voting centers have been set up across the country for the Lok Sabha elections.  Votes will be cast from 55 lakh EVMs.  He said that there are about 97 crore voters in the country, out of which 1.82 crore new voters will vote for the first time.  Among these new voters there are 85 lakh women voters.  Out of the total electorate, 49.7 crore are male voters and 47.1 crore female voters.  Apart from them, there are 2 lakh 18 thousand voters above 100 years of age and 82 lakh voters above 85 years of age, the Chief Election Commissioner revealed.
