New Delhi, March 10, Jankranti News, : —– Arun Goyal resigned from the post of Central Election Commission Commissioner on Saturday. His resignation was accepted by President Draupadi Murmu. The issue of resignation of Central Election Commission Commissioner Arun Goyal, a few days before the release of the lok sabha election schedule, while his tenure is still three years away, is causing a political uproar. However, even though Goyal’s tenure is up to December 2027, the opposition is questioning why he had to resign. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, Congress party and Trinamool Congress parties have demanded that the central government should give a clear explanation on the success of the resignation of the Central Election Commissioner Arun Goyal.
After the resignation of Central Election Commissioner Arun Goyal, only Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar remains in the Central Election Commission, which already has a vacancy. Lok Sabha election dates are likely to be announced next week. Goyal is a 1985 batch IAS officer. He took VRS on 18 November 2022. After that he was appointed as the Election Commissioner.
While Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is set to retire next year and Arun Goyal is likely to replace him, the sudden resignation of Central Election Commissioner Arun Goyal has come as a surprise.
