ASSAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches Rs 11,600 Crore Development Projects in Assam

JANKRANTI NEWS (ASSAM) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati.  PM Modi with an aim to make India as the 3rd largest economy in the world and ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 launched various development projects worth nearly Rs 11,600 crore some funded by the State Government and some by the Centre in Assam on Sunday.

The foundation stone for the projects were laid by the Prime Minister during the mega programme with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and other top leaders of Assam present at the event which was attended bt almost 2 lakh people. 

The foundation stone that was laid by the Prime Minister includes:

* The Kamakhya Temple Corridor of Rs 498 crore. 

* Upgradation projects worth over Rs 3400 crore will encompass 43 roads including 38 bridges. 

* Two 4 – lane projects, namely from Dolabari to Jamuguri constructed at a cost of Rs 592 crore and Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur developed at a cost of Rs 1,451 crore. 

* A new sports complex in Chandrapur of about Rs 300 crore. 

* A six-lane road from the new Airport Terminal of Rs 358 crore in Guwahati. 

* The upgradation of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standard football stadium (Rs 831 crore). 

* An integrated building of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3,250 crore.

* Setting up of a medical college at Karimganj at a cost of Rs 578 crore. 

* Setting up of an Rs 297 crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.

Before launching the various development projects, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow with people lining both sides of the streets and chanting his name.
