JANKRANTI NEWS (ASSAM) : The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve are experiencing an unprecedented surge in tourist footfall. The park has welcomed nearly 1.8 lakh visitors which includes both foreign and domestic tourists, resulting in an estimated revenue of around ₹4.58 crore, the all time highest this season.
Sonali Ghosh, the Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve highlighted that the addition of new tourism areas like Biswanath and Bura Chapori contributed to the increased popularity of the National Park. The season which commenced from 15th October, 2023 has consistently seen rising numbers of tourist.
In October, 2023 the number of tourist that visited the park was 17,662 followed by 40,242 tourist in November, 2023 the increasing the number of tourist to 65,000 in December, 2023. This year in January, 2024 the number of tourist were 52,000. The revenue figures reveal earnings of ₹1.45 crore in December 2023 and ₹1.21 crore in January 2024.
River tourism also emerged as a significant contributor to the park’s revenue this time giving positive impact on overall earnings. The park, known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity, has witnessed increased tourist influx, particularly during this holiday season.
The recent initiatives like the Kazir Ronghangpi Tales, Cycling in Kohora, Panpur Jeep Safari & Boat Safari in Biswanath Wildlife Division have solidified Kaziranga’s position as a must-visit destination in Assam.
In the ongoing tourist year 2023-24 an approximately 1,79,573 visitors have already explored the National Park, contributing to an estimated revenue of around ₹4,58,77,639 marking a remarkable success for the Kaziranga National Park.
