Islamabad, March 4, Jankranti News,: —— The suspense over who will be the Prime Minister of Pakistan has finally come to an end. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party leader Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time. He will be sworn in as the 24th Prime Minister at the President’s House today, Monday.
The 336-member National Assembly held a voting process to elect the Prime Minister on Sunday. Shehbaz Sharif, who contested as a joint candidate on behalf of PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party, secured 201 votes. Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan after Omar Ayub Khan of the PTI party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was serving a jail sentence against Shehbaz Sharif, got only 92 votes.
Meanwhile, during the voting, there was confusion in the Parliament with the slogans of the lawmakers supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Agitated in support of Imran Khan. However, the Speaker declared Shehbaz Sharif as the Prime Minister who won the voting. Sharif first headed the coalition government from April 2022 to August 2023.
In this context, Shehbaz Sharif thanked everyone for making him the Prime Minister. I am thankful to everyone for trusting me and electing me as the Prime Minister. There are talented people in this Parliament who will take Pakistan forward in development. Among them are journalists, intellectuals and politicians. Now we have a big challenge ahead of us. Shehbaz Sharif commented that this task is difficult but if we all think together to change the destiny of Pakistan, it will be possible.
