JANKRANTI NEWS (DIBRUGARH) : In a significant digital event organized at Dibrugarh University, the Prime Minister’s University for Holistic and Accelerated Advancement (PM-USHA) scheme was launched on Tuesday 20th Feb 2024, ushering a new era of growth and development for the esteemed institution.
The event was graced by the Member of Parliament Rameshwar Teli, the Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Dr Jiten Hazarika and various other significant dignitaries.
Dibrugarh University has achieved a significant milestone by being chosen as one of the pioneering Multi-disciplinary Education and Research Universities (MERUs) under the belt of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This selection is made possible through the Prime Minister’s University for Holistic and Accelerated Advancement (PM-USHA) scheme which marks a pivotal moment in the University’s journey towards academic excellence and innovation.
Under the Multi-disciplinary Education and Research Universities (MERU) initiative, Dibrugarh University received a substantial grant of Rs 100 crores from the government. This funding aims to enhance the University’s infrastructure, research facilities, and academics, fostering an environment conducive to inter-disciplinary learning and innovation.
The selection of Dibrugarh University for the MERU initiative underscores the potential to emerge as a hub for cutting-edge research and holistic education and aims to address the challenges and equip the students with skills and knowledge required to thrive in an competitive evolving global environment.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu said that he is happy to share that the Project Approval Board (PAB) under the PM-USHA scheme has selected Dibrugarh University for development as a Multi-Disciplinary Education & Research University (MERU) under NEP and the University will now get a grant of Rs 100 crores.
