Brasília, May 5, Jankranti News, : —- Heavy rains are shaking Brazil. The weather officials there have termed it as a disaster never seen before in the history of the country. Mainly in the southern state of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul is being flooded by heavy rains. Due to this, massive landslides occurred in that state. 57 people died due to landslides. Also about 74 people are missing. At present the rescue operation is going on across the state.

Officials said that due to heavy rains, bridges and houses have collapsed due to floods and massive debris has been accumulated. Now it has been revealed that rescue personnel are in the process of removing the debris. Meanwhile, the governor of that state, Eduardo Leet, revealed that the situation has gone out of control due to a sudden change in the weather. It is in this context that emergency situation has been declared in the state. Meanwhile, the President of the country, Luz Inacio Lula da Silva, has announced that the rain-affected areas will be given immediate assistance.

On the other hand, the federal forces are heavily involved in relief operations. 12 planes, 45 vehicles and 12 boats were deployed. About 700 soldiers are participating in rescue and relief operations. Those who lost their homes were moved to safer places. They are provided with food and drinking water. Due to landslides, many areas are facing mudslides. In many places all the vehicles were submerged in the mud. The local Cuiabá River is overflowing.
